Introduction (aka about this journal)
Hello and welcome. This is, fairly obviously, my online journal / blog / whathaveyou. Come, put up your metaphorical webtravelling shoes; won't you have a read for a while?

I also, like 11 million other people, play World of Warcraft. My main characters are:

  • Shukeralle, unguilded level 80 night elf druid (server: Aggramar)
  • Donda, level 72 tauren druid, also on Aggramar. Is in the "Hordes of Hell" giuld.
  • ...and an army of alts

I am a very big fan of Not-Being-Fired-For-Blogging-About-My-Job.

However it should be safe enough to post an update on my working life.

I used to work in the IT department of an energy company. The energy company decided, some time ago, to outsource large parts of their IT department (including my job) to an Indian company. Oh no, shock and horror, doom and gloom, and so on! Except, instead of me getting booted out onto the curb and having to find another job, I have instead ended up being outsourced to the Indian company.

The transition date was today.

The end result is that despite me now counting as an employee of a different company, almost everything else about my job is exactly the same. I work at the same desk in the same building with almost the same colleagues doing the same work as before. The main difference is that the security card that lets me into the building now calls me a "Site Inducted Contractor".

And finally, yesterday at work, the Business Casual Friday dress code combined with Halloween made for some interesting results.

My boss dressed up as Jason from... whatever that movie series, Ronnie had Freddy Krueger's hat and claws, I was a very black-clad Phantom of IT, but the show was well and truly stolen when Michael and Gabriel walked in in Sith costumes and makeup, with the Imperial March playing from Michael's phone.

It well and truly stopped the meeting I was in at the time. :)

Yes, I am alive. Here are some quick notes from the past couple of weeks.


  • Ninja Gaiden 2 is great fun, but also very very hard. I think it's even harder than the first game. Right from the outset, enemies throw you and throw projectiles, and there are lots more of them harassing you too. That didn't happen in the first game.
  • The Simpsons Game is exactly as the reviews described it - very average when it comes to the gameplay, but very funny and well written.
  • Work has been hectic. It looks like it will be hectic this week also.

I probably can't go into any detail about it, but so far this week at work has been very very not fun. Something went wrong on Monday and I've been chasing it around for the past four days. However, it should all be over now.

...or maybe that light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.

We had a bit of a spring-clean here at work, and I finally got a lot of my workspace cleaned up.

While doing so, I gathered together all my helpdesk call records from when I started (March 2002) to November 2004 and tossed them out. But not before taking a picture or two of the stack.

Which leads into another thing I've finally done - experiment a little with Livejournal Pics. Check out my HDCalls gallery.

I thought there'd be more. ;_;

Anyway, yes, I know, this is all terribly boring. But now that I know I can, I might upload more pics to my LiveJournal galleries.
