Went and saw Spider-Man 3.

It was about what I expected.

It was a very odd night last night. There was almost no World of Warcraft in it at all - while odd, this was also welcome, because I do need to play it less.

Instead, I watched part 1 of Hogfather and episode 20 of Heroes.

Hogfather
I'll refrain from full comment until I've seen the second part as well, but, oh! This is absolutely *amazing*. The adaptation isn't perfect, and I've always said (and still believe) any attempt to put Nobbs into any medium other than text won't work, but, but, but, to see Hogfather on screen is amazing and joyous and makes me feel all wubbly inside.

Heroes-related spoilers/rambling/musing )

EDIT: Oh my god. *Three* typos? All fixed now.

Kung Fu Hustle is finally out here. I went and saw it last night, and found it very funny. It doesn't try to be anything other than absurdist martial-arts comedy, and it does that very well.

I think one of my favourite parts was the Matrix spoof at the end, along with the line spoken by the landlords as it's starting - "Do you think he's the Chosen One?"

Finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a couple of days ago.

My idle musing on it is put behind this cut in order to avoid spoiling people inadvertently. )

If you are just viewing this in a Friends view, then have a quick look at my main journal page. I have done a bit more customisation of this beast; it now has an introduction, complete with links to my various categories/tags.

This journal might actually be presentable one day. In the meantime, it gets slight improvements from month to month.

And now, movies!

Mr and Mrs Smith, and Batman Begins )

There wasn't very much in the movie trailers that really grabbed my attention, only the one for The Island. The concept of a group of people being held in a fake world really grabbed my attention, and I wondered where the movie would go with it. Then the trailer devolved to car chases, things blowing up, and the Intrepid Heroes dangling over immense heights. I lost a bit of interest after that, but I might go see it.

There were also other trailers, of course, but I can barely remember what they were for. They were that uninspiring. The two I can remember were for for Stealth (as soon as they mentioned a fully AI fighter jet, I guessed it would be going rogue) and Monster-In-Law (I instantly wrote it off as a Jennifer Lopez chick-flick).

Oh, that's right, there was the Fantastic Four trailer as well. (Surprisingly, *not* tonight, when I saw Batman Begins.) To which I say, meh. Just based on the trailer, I imagine this will not be a huge step forwards for the superhero action movie genre. But still, it has Dr. Doom. That may help the movie a bit. Or it might not. The movie is likely to make him just a generic villain.

Finally saw Monsters, Inc. this weekend.

Then I watched it again.

I think this is my favourite Pixar film so far.

So yes, I went and saw Revenge of the Sith this weekend - in fact, I saw it twice - and my thoughts are mixed.

So. Saw Appleseed, the movie, at the anime club this past weekend.

If you ask me, Appleseed, the movie, fails.

Why it fails (Spoiler-free). )
